The Hill

I’d planned to post a poem this morning since Word Wednesday was pre-empted by the Inauguration, but there’s nothing that I could post that would be better than the poem Amanda Gorman read yesterday, “The Hill We Climb”.

So, I think we should all watch it again.

I think it’s completely fitting to have poetry read at the Presidential Inauguration because some of the language was used in founding this country can be seen as either borderline or outright poetic. The lyrical prose that was used to kick King George to the curb or frame a government was a starting point, not the finish line.

Ms. Gorman, thank you.
