Getting back on schedule… kinda

Made it out this morning for my first run in over a week and went about 2.2 miles around the loop. Two surprises, the first being that I felt remarkably well afterwards, which is pretty nice considering the weeks layoff from the weather and nasal congestion. The second was that, according to the training schedule I’m on, I should’ve only done 1.75 miles today – next week was the step up to 2 miles. Well, that’s one way to trim off a week of training I suppose…

So that keeps me on pace to get to 5K by the end of May – plenty of time to work on upping that a bit and bettering my time before the race I’m running towards the end of June, the Run For Cash Memorial 5K that’s held each year in Old Orchard Beach. What’s somewhat amusing is that Kim and I ran in the first one they did, meaning that the mathematics of the situation just dawned on me – ie. that’s it’s been five years since my lazy arse has been running. Yikes, that went by quick.

The big question for me is how well I’ll do in that race and then whether I’ll be ready for the 10K that’s being held in Portland sometime in September. In the meantime, anyone want to join in on that race?
