Which brings me to the current design, Unitas. Named for football legend Johnny Unitas, it’s a single-column WordPress theme that doesn’t muck about with much except content and looking sharp. I’ve been looking for something along these lines and hadn’t been quite satisfied with any that I’d seen, so I decided to dive back into the pool and hammer out my own design. Luckily, the basic framework of this sucker was hanging around the shop from a previously abandoned idea. Throw in some heavy inspiration from Derek Powazek and his nifty, yet infuriatingly unavailable (it’s only available for WordPress.com blogs, not self-hosted ones) theme DePo Masthead, and you wind up here – a minimal theme that does just about everything I’d like it to do. Which is always nice.

At some point, I’m planning to hammer out the remaining few dents and clean the code up enough to release this little birdie into the wild over at 276 Design – hopefully, at the beginning of May to fill out my woefully neglected Freebies section. Stay tuned for that, if that sort of thing interests you.

Also, in case you’re extra sharp, there may be some question as to where my previous posts have gotten themselves to. They’re gone. In the name of Spring cleaning (and not wanting to play Data Cleanup for the next week or so), I tore it all down and started out with a fresh installation of WordPress. Something about being able to reset everything from the ground up is appealing every once in a while. Dontcha think?
