Both Sides of Word Wednesday

This is a recent one, written just over a week ago with scant few revisions. I’ve been thinking a lot about how to live in peace with others so far as it depends on me and what that actually looks like in the world.

Is it silence? Is it exclusion?

Or is it bearing witness?

I’ll have to get back to you on that one.

both sides

we pretend our world,
seeing as it’s never seen -
a moving mirage
refracted through a prism
of perspectives,

where it’s expected
that we meet in the middle
even when center
is calculated
in so many ways,

where cruelty & compassion
meet, never quite touching -
& we become conditioned
to accepting less of each
& calling it victory.
