Sitrep Saturday

It’s been a bit since I’ve checked in with this sort of thing, so I figured why not? Sure, it’s only half past midnight, but it’s also technically Saturday and I’ve got Wes Montgomery’s Willow Weep For Me on the hi-fi, so might as well make the most of it.

Over the last couple of weeks, I’ve finally completed the first round of editing of poems for the book I’ve been working on for what feels like a couple decades. Most of these poems were written directly into a word processor, so I like to change medium for editing, meaning that all of these poems were printed and revised by hand. So I spent a decent portion of time last night (a couple hours ago) transferring changes from the printed pages to their files on my computer. I’m about a third of the way there, which is pretty good considering this project was dead in the water a month ago.

Ah, the script. Well, there’s been very little movement on that aside from revising a few pages here and there. I keep wondering if I should change the setting so that the dialogue would be more in my wheelhouse (middle age as opposed to college), but then I look myself in the mirror and think “Are you that much of a wimp that you can’t figure this out?”

I tend to get a little tough on myself sometimes.

Anyways, that’s been slow going, but I’ve also got another idea in the hopper that I’ve been thinking through. I’m not a huge fan of outlining, but I’ve been thinking through this story while going to bed at night and feel like there’s been some progress there. Who knows if it’s any good, but it’s been entertaining for me as a mental exercise. And we all know I could always use more exercise, mental and otherwise.
